It has been to hot to smoke a cigar lately so I have taken this opportunity to buy some cigars.

Yesterday I bought the Oliva G Serie and Perdomo Reserve 10th Anniversary Champagne.

They were placed into my small humidor for aging.

I bought some local cigars on the island a few days ago. I smoked one for a few minutes before dinner but didn't have enough time to really get a sense of the cigar. I have some more that I will smoke over the 4th of July weekend. Stayed away from the Cubans on all the islands because they wanted way to much money for my liking. The shop owners must have a lot of theft issues because you were never allowed alone with the cigars.

I found this place (Twins) after reading Cigar Aficionado and saw their ad.

They have a smoking lounge with a bar and tv, a small deck off the lounge area, events, a knowledgeable and friendly staff and cigar manufacturers come by and they have BBQs, rolling demos, etc.

I can't wait for baseball playoffs and the football season to start. This is my new destination!

The Boston Bruins won the Eastern Conference Championship last night.

They now play Vancouver for the Stanley Cup.

Any suggestions for a celebration cigar in case they win the cup since 1972?

I went to their website and found that they now have a "school" for cigar smokers: Cigar-University.

In case you don't follow Cigar Dave on XM Radio, you can follow him on Twitter or listen to his show by going to his website (www.cigardave.com). This past week he had his annual Cigar Draft and I have smoked a few of them in the past year (e.g. Perdomo 10th Anniversary Reserve Champagne - Magnum, Montecristo White - Especial #3).
I also follow Stogieguys.com blog. This is a great place to read reviews, get advice and weekly internet deals.

What is your favorite beverage when smoking a cigar during the spring and summer? If it is a micro brew, then please name it so I can check it out. There is a liquor store nearby that caters to people who are trying out new beers by letting you pick and make your own six pack, 12 pack or case.

Also, please indicate if you pair it with a cigar if the cigar is mild, etc.

I plan on going out to play nine holes this week.
I am debating on what kind of cigar to bring with me.
If it is windy, then I will probably go with a 2GuysSmokeShop Special(Here).
If it isn't windy, then I may bring a Oliva Serie V.
I plan on incorporating some new techniques I have learned on the The Golf Channel this winter.

Fly Fishing

Today I took to the river by my house and attempted to fly fish. It really was a casting lesson that I was attempting.

I brought along a Perdomo Champagne 10th Anniversary(this was the birthday choice).
Even outside in a slight breeze this is an enjoyable cigar. I consider it among my favorites.

I need to buy a windproof lighter if I am going to smoke along the river!

Well my birthday is approaching quickly and I'll be getting myself a nice smoke for the day.

If you were going to splurge on yourself, then what cigar would you buy?

I may get a Davidoff (that has been the choice the last couple of years) but looking for
other ideas. I like a mild to medium cigar. I'll be having a cup of coffee with my cigar while sitting in the cigar store in NH.

I went over my sister-in-law's house and her husband surprised me with a box of Romeo y Juliette's.
He then broke out his home made IPA (much to my surprise it was actually very good) as we stood around his fire pit. It was cold but standing around the fire, smoking a cigar and having a home brewed IPA with family was nice.

Good thing I listened to my own advice..........not to celebrate before the contest is over. The Patriots looked like they were going to dominate the Jets yesterday; however, that wasn't the case and the Cuban goes back into the humidor for another day.

Fishing while smoking

Today my brother in law and I went fishing at our favorite fishing hole. I brought a couple of Cuban cigars and thank God I did. The fishing was terrible but the cigars saved the day. There hasn't been any rain to speak of and the water level is down about two or three feet. As a result, the fish have gone to the middle of the pond and I don't have a boat, canoe or kayak to chase them.

It is almost time for pheasant hunting and I'll bring some cigars just in case the birds don't want to cooperate either.

I may try to hit the links soon with one of my nephews who lives in town. He usually doesn't smoke cigars but you never know what will happen if the right cigar is tendered.

Brickhouse Update

I smoked the Brickhouse last week and enjoyed it very much. It smoked evenly and kept a nice tight ash. I don't have the taste buds to pick up flavors but it had no bitter taste even as it approached the end. I will be buying more of these in the future. By the way, it was was a top 10 cigar draft pick on www.cigardave.com. If you have XM or Sirius and would like to listen and call in you should check out the show because it is entertaining and informing. He posts the show on his website if you can't listen live.

I just bought a Brickhouse and wanted to know what other people thought about this cigar. Where I buy my cigars (two guys smoke shop in NH) it won cigar of the year. I also have read about it in CA and some blogs.

It is that time of year and I am trout fishing and smoking outdoors. I have caught a few rainbows though none today. I am in the Merrimack Valley (MA) area and if anyone has any areas that they fish I would appreciate it you would share where it is, what you caught and on what.

Today I went to the mall to find a hygrometer for my humidor. Cigar Dave said to check out Radio Shack and so I off I went. The young guy asked if he could ask me a question about cigars. I said of course and answered a few questions that he had and suggested that he buy a book (e.g. Cigars for Dummies-don't be put off by the name it is a good read) and visit The Two Guys Smoke Shop in NH (I have no monetary interest in the store). He was so appreciative that someone would help him. Today someone's else cigar quest intersected with mine. It was nice to see enthusiasm for cigars.

I got on with Cigar Dave a couple of weeks ago and he gave me some Rockey Patel Decade cigars. I can't wait to smoke them. I am going to find a nice smooth scotch or Irish whiskey to drink with them. The Cigar Dave show is fun to listen to because he is knowledgeable and entertaining.

New Smoke

I tried a Davidoff Special R the other day and enjoyed it very much. I didn't get dizzy or have any lousy after tastes; however,I did have a slight sensation on my tongue. I called into Cigar Dave's show and asked for some advice. He gave me some excellent advice and offered me some cigars (rocky patels) to expand my tastes in cigars. I should get them in a few weeks and I can't wait. I am also looking to buy some Toranos' Exodus 1959.

I bought a sampler pack (CAO Gold, Montecristos and Macanudos)from JR Cigars and smoked one of the Montecristos while fishing for the first time this year. It was windy and cold but once I lit the cigar it did not go out and burned smoothly.

Looking for a new smoke.

I enjoy Edge Lites and CAO Gold but am looking for something a little more bold in the same price range. I don't want to be overwhelmed but something that will bring me to the next level of enjoyment with respect to cigars. I have been enjoying cigars for a couple of years and want to expand my horizons.
